Our Mission

Our mission is to preserve and celebrate American Swing-era music and dance and to expose the greater community to the joys of swing through education, dance events, performances, and outreach. We aim to create and promote opportunities for spectators, listeners, dancers, and musicians to interact with this Black American art form in their day-to-day lives.

Level 1 Charleston

Thursdays 7pm-8pm

Dates: Sept 10, 17, 24, Oct 1

Instructors: TBA & TBA

This class will get you moving on the dance floor, and here we're focusing on the dance that started it all. This dance is often interspersed within any social swing dance, or can be danced standalone. Charleston is the jelly to the Lindy Hop peanut butter. This basic also helps you dance to faster music, without feeling like you're working too hard--but you'll never feel like you're getting this much exercise when you're having so much fun!

No experience or partner required!

Level 2 Lindy Hop: Classics

Thursdays 7pm-8pm

Dates: Sept 10, 17, 24, Oct 1

Instructors: TBA & TBA

It's important to know where this dance came from. In this class, we will explore some classic, must-know, vintage Lindy Hop vocabulary as well as the history behind them.

You must have taken both Level 1 Lindy Hop and Charleston series classes or have prior instructor approval to register for this class.

All Levels Solo Jazz

Wednesdays 7pm-8:30pm (practice 8:30-9pm)

Dates: Sept 16, 23, 30

Instructors: Keara & Blake

This is an all levels solo Jazz class. We’ll be going over fundamentals of movement, vocabulary, some choreography, and finding more individualism and expression. If you are brand new to solo movement, this class can also be for you if you are looking for a challenge. At the same time, if you’ve been dancing for years, this class can also be a challenge. Note, if you improve your solo movement and dancing that also applies greatly to your partner dancing! After the class, there will be an additional 30 minutes of open time with DJ’d music to ask questions, receive feedback, put new concepts and material into practice, and work through ideas with other dancers. This is an opportunity to not only elevate your own dancing and understanding of Lindy Hop and Solo Jazz, but to also uplift our dance community as a whole. Drop ins are allowed every week at a rate of $18/class as we will not be building on material from previous weeks.

Jam Session

Wednesday 7pm-8:30pm

Dates: Sept 2

Instructor: Blake

**Note, there are no classes on September 9.** With many people away for Camp Hollywood, the regular Wednesday series will not start until Sept 16. Please join us for an open community practice/ Jam Session on Wednesday, Sept 2, to bounce ideas off of each other.

This is an open level community practice/Jam Session. Come with things you want to work on! Whether that be clips of a move you want to try, something you recently saw someone do at a dance, musicality, etc. We'll all be working together and building each other up in this Jam Session! Some experience recommended, no partner required. There is a $5 fee due at the door for the floor space.

Quick FAQ

Classes begin the first Wednesday or Thursday of each month unless otherwise specified.

Sign-ups for next month’s classes open in the middle of the current month.

Nope! You don’t need to bring a partner—in fact, most of our students come solo.

During class, we highly encourage rotating partners because it helps you learn faster and adapt to different leads or follows.

If you do come with a partner and prefer to stay together the whole class, that’s totally fine—you’re welcome to opt out of rotation.

All Lindy Hop, Charleston, and Balboa lesson packages include 4 (or 8) classes, once a week, that build on material from the previous class.

Drop-ins are typically not allowed since each week builds on the last.

If you pay the full class rate, it includes a free dance pass for the month(except nights with live music).

We can catch you up! Just show up 15-20 minutes early before the next class and let us know!

Unused class credits do not count towards future months.
